At three in the morning, I threw off the covers to walk to the corner store in my slippers.
For a cookie.

I’d eaten the last one that afternoon and sworn I was done. Then I spent the whole night obsessing over it. Bath, book, TV — nothing worked. I was a clinical pharmacist with a science degree, lying awake at 2 a.m., defeated by a cookie.

I passed out cold getting out of bed and woke at seven, having made it through day one by accident.

For years, I thought that was a willpower problem. It wasn’t.

My gut was inflamed, my hormones were off, and my blood sugar was crashing and spiking on a loop. My body wasn’t weak. It was running on broken signals and screaming for the fastest fix it knew.

The craving, the fatigue, the weight that won’t move, the fog – it’s rarely about discipline. There’s chemistry underneath, sending the wrong instructions.

I was doing everything “right” and still didn’t have answers.

I watched my parents rack up diagnoses and decline fast enough to scare me. Every doctor told me I was headed in the same direction and gave me the same prescription: “eat better, exercise more”.

I was already doing that. I ate the salads. I was an athlete.

At the same time, I was struggling with my own health. I had ovarian cysts, gained fifteen pounds of water overnight, and felt bloated, foggy and miserable. My labs looked “normal,” so I was told I was fine.

I wasn’t fine. And “eat better and exercise more” was never going to tell me why.

I went from filling prescriptions to asking why they were needed in the first place.

I’d trained at the oldest pharmacy school in the country, with years of anatomy and biochemistry behind me, learning what a drug, plant, or piece of food does once it’s inside the body on a cellular level.

When my parents went into a nursing home and later passed, I went back to school for a master’s in human nutrition, chasing one question:
Can you actually reverse this, or only medicate it?

For so much of what walks through my door, the answer is yes.

I eventually discovered that I had insulin resistance and never knew it.

Once I stopped following generic advice and started giving my body the right signals in the right order, the cravings that had run my life for decades quietly let go.

Today, I help women find what their symptoms are actually trying to tell them.

By the time a woman finds me, there can be a hundred things wrong at once. The mistake is trying to chase all hundred.

Instead, we find the first real obstacle and support that one thing well.

Then we layer the next.

I’ve watched women too afraid to leave the house because of their gut start going out again in weeks.
I’ve had clients arrive with a walker and leave strong enough for the gym.

Your body isn’t broken. It’s responding to signals.
Give it the right ones and change stops feeling like a fight.

I learned the slow way, cookie by cookie.

I’d rather you learn it fast.
